Anime Watch: New Series ☆Violet Evergarden☆

Hello Hello, Lil Buns!

I have a new series for you all! This one has a very different tone from all the other ones I talked about. But so far so good with just the first episode.

Quick Synopsis (from My Anime List)
There are words Violet heard on the battlefield, which she cannot forget. These words were given to her by someone she holds dear, more than anyone else. She does not yet know their meaning.

A certain point in time, in the continent of Telesis. The great war which divided the continent into North and South has ended after four years, and the people are welcoming a new generation.

Violet Evergarden, a young girl formerly known as "the weapon," has left the battlefield to start a new life at CH Postal Service. There, she is deeply moved by the work of "Auto Memories Dolls," who carry people's thoughts and convert them into words.

Violet begins her journey as an Auto Memories Doll, and comes face to face with various people's emotions and differing shapes of love. All the while searching for the meaning of those words.

I have to admit, I was a little hesitant to start this series. I usually don't try to watch series based on war as they tend to end up very depressing. Just like when I was reading the book series Kieli. It was always very sad even until the end I hear. I still have yet to get the final book....

We start the series with seeing flashbacks of a war and suddenly see the same girl waking up in what appears to be an old-fashioned hospital bed. She's all bandaged up and tries to write a letter anyway. We all know someone like that that just can't rest and has to be constantly doing something even when they're supposed to be resting.

We see that she's lost someone very important to her and she can't figure out what's happened to him. She demands to find out when a man comes to pick her up. It seems like they're hiding the truth and try to distract her with other topics.

He soon brings her to what would be her new home where she has to learn to live a normal life as a civilian. The war is over and she has to try to stop being a soldier. I'd imagine it would be difficult to go from one end of the spectrum to the other especially after such a long battle. There are a lot of incidents and memories that once you've witnessed, I'm sure it would all change you permanently in some ways.

Violet, as everyone calls her, also gets to visit the man's place of work - CH Postal Service. They not only get all of the mail out for the town but they also provide a service for those that can't write or put their feelings into words. These are the Auto Memories Dolls.

As a way of getting her to live a normal life, or as close to one as possible especially with her prosthetic hands, she's employed at the postal service. But it's when she sees one of the citizens gets help from one of the AMD, she wants to learn more about emotions and normal living.

This first episode actually kept me interested the whole way through. Yes, with the war flashbacks, it was pretty sad. But it just made me want to learn more about Violet and why she was so attached to this one person. Is she a normal human being? How could she have become such a proficient tool for war and survive this long as a young girl? And why has this man taken such an interest in her?

So many questions that I hope will be answered soon!

If you get to watch this series, let me know what you think! And hopefully I'll be able to post more about these series before they finish airing Dx

That's all for now! See you next time!
