Hello Hello, Lil Buns!
Today's entry is
Day 5 of the 30 Day Gyaru Challenge:
What Do You Love and Dislike About Gyaru?
I think it would be easiest to answer this in a list form. So here we go!
First the
Loves:
✨The relationship between brand and non-brand: I can do any combination of each or both. As long as it works for Gyaru, that's all that matters.
✨Makeup: I never really wore makeup all of the time. But Gyaru allowed me to learn and discover so much that I am getting pretty decent at it!
✨Lashes: I'm in LOVE. You can wear any kind depending on the kind plans for the day. You can have them as natural or as dramatic as you want.
✨Different kinds of fashion: I love a lot of the substyles. Each one is different so it feels like even using some of the same pieces can be a whole new coordinate!
✨The Gals: Whether I follow them on social media or actually got to speak to them, they are really awesome people. We are all diverse too which just goes to show you that Gyaru is for everyone!
✨If you feel Gal, it is Gal: I know when it comes to fashion, a lot of them have so many rules. But in Gyaru, I feel so free!
Now the
Dislikes:
πNegative People: No matter what, not everyone is going to have something positive to say. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but if you're gonna' insult someone, then please keep that to yourself.
π"Gyaru is dying": I know people have been saying this a lot recently. Sure, the drive behind Gyaru has changed. But even with a lot of the magazines and blogs shutting down, gyaru no longer being active online, etc, I found out that that doesn't mean the end. We're still out there. We've just evolved.
πToo much change: We have evolved. And so has the fashion. But I do miss a lot of the older styles. So I've made it my mission to hunt for as much as I can.
πAll the Gyaru I see online or talk to are like the other side of the world: I feel like I mostly see Lolitas here in NY. Any Gyaru here?!
πA lot of Gyaru feel the need to "graduate" once they hit a certain age: Like any fashion, if you love it and it makes you feel good, then you keep doing what you love! I'm 30+ and enjoying every moment in Gyaru.
What are your loves and dislikes?
And if I think of more for either, I'll update this post!
That's all for now! See you next time!
Wow I totally agree with all of this. I feel like with any big group of people, some negative things might happen. I hate that some people think it's gyaru that is negative when it's not, it's just that with so many people some wont mix well.
ReplyDeleteMy make up gets better and better everytime I do gyaru makeup, like I learn a something everytime. It's so fun and I like the challenge. Also about the older styles, I go on japanese auction sites through shopping services to try get the older stuff aha.
I agree with those dislikes, especially "too much change". I favor the older, dramatic styles. Everything seems very toned down but aspects of gyaru are very "trendy" so as trends change.. :/
ReplyDeleteAlso the negativity part too. I was so afraid to put myself out there when I started following the gyaru fashion. And although I haven't heard much from sites like gyaru secrets, it probably still exists and even if it's no longer active people still attack others on all social media. So it's still a little scary but hey, when it comes down to it, do what makes you happy~
