Kawaii Review: Sailor Moon Moonlight Memory Series Star Locket

Hiyo lil bunnies!

I'm very excited to share this kawaii review with you today~! I've been a huge fan of the Sailor Moon series since it came to the USA back in the 90s. And with the new reboot, we get a lot of merchandise!

I can't tell you how bad I wanted the original Star Locket. And I got so frustrated knowing that I could've gotten it when it first came out. I got even more annoyed when I look around on eBay and saw them for no cheaper than 350$~! But thanks to the new series, I could choose the Proplica or this one. I actually prefer this one!

When Sailor Moon Collectibles (I LOVE this site!) announced Bandai's release of two kinds of lockets, I knew it was my chance to finally get one! The proplica series locket is a perfect replica of the items Sailor Moon used in the series but they're also quite pricey. The one I got, from the Moonlight Memory Series, is actually based on the original toys. So basically like a newer version!

I put my order in to my trustworthy shopping service FromJapan where they were able to reserve it! When it finally came to the release date and it was shipped to them, they notified me. And finally, it made its way over to me at my doorstep!

I actually didn't take a shipping box photo (sorry!) because I was too excited! It was well-packaged and nothing was disturbed during its travel. Inside all of the packaging sat my newest treasure, all wrapped in bubble wrap for extra security~!

Here are photos of the box from all sides~ It even has the official sticker on the back! (click on the smaller photos to see them bigger)

And here is what you get inside the box!

The Star Locket sits in a fitted plastic sleeve so it doesn't shift around. There's also the instructions (in Japanese of course) and a chain~! I'm pretty sure many Sailor Moon cosplayers loved that detail.

Here it is! Isn't it gorgeous? Unlike its proplica counterpart, the gold coloring is a lot shinier and brighter. I guess because the proplica has to look more real?

Like a real music box, you turn the little key in the back. The cover opens and closes nicely. It's sturdy but also has a delicate touch. If that makes any sense. XD

And my favorite part~  the inside! The background is a holographic foil with the phases of the moon. The one thing I love that the Moonlight Memory Series did better was the gem in the center. The proplica's just looks like a pink circle but this one looks more like an actual gem!

And of course it plays music with the Crescent Moon turning! Here is a video of it in action~

I'm super happy that I was finally able to get my hands on this! It's perfect in every way and makes me feel a lot better since I couldn't get the original locket.

Do you have your eye on something from your favorite series?

That's all for now! See you next time!

90s Tag!

Hiyo lil bunnies!

I found this uber cute tag on The Sugar Blog and thought I'd try it out. Also thinking about doing one for the 80s since that's when I was born~

1. Favorite TV Show

Growing up, I watched a ton of TV. But if I had to pick just one series, it would definitely be Boy Meets World. It was like having a drama made just for teens and wasn't just all about drugs and sex like a lot of shows are. And who doesn't love Mr. Feeny?!

2. Favorite Toy

Polly Pocket! I had so many of them. I even used to have the little people and animals visit other Polly Pockets.

3. Favorite Console Game

Super Nintendo: Super Mario World
Gameboy: Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
Playstation: Final Fantasy 7

4. Remember a TV Ad

5. Favorite Disney Movie

Live Action: Mighty Ducks
Animated: Mulan

6. Favorite Treat

Back before I became allergic to peanuts and peanut butter, I was obsessed with Planters P.B. Crisps and Chocolate Crisps. They don't make them anymore but they were sooooooo good! They were basically like peanut shaped cookies and had peanut butter or chocolate as filling! I miss them. :(

7. Backstreet Boys or N*Sync

I was definitely a BSB fan. The guys in the group were just way cuter and they had Nick! <3 Plus the music was catchier.

8. Craziest Fashion You Had

It was definitely during my Grunge phase. Baggy ripped jeans and flannel shirts. What was I thinking?

9. What Did You Collect?

Oh man... I was such a pack rat. I collected a lot of things! Pogs, Polly Pocket, McDonald's toys, Beanie Babies, Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Lisa Frank and so much more!

10. How Many Tamagotchis Did You Kill?

Honestly? Probably the last one I was taking care of. xD I managed to keep them alive for a long time. But I think it was definitely the last time I was playing with it. I got bored and put it away...

11. Favorite Book

Basically anything written by R. L. Stine. I was never a huge fan of horror but his books were so mild that I could handle them no problem. Especially the Goosebumps series!

12. Favorite McDonalds Toy

McDino Changeables~ They were dinosaurs that could transform into McDonalds menu items. They were really cool! XD

13. What Shows Did You Watch After School?

As long as homework got done, I was able to watch TV right after school. I remember watching all of the Disney cartoons on the Disney Afternoon block and The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! Those were great.

Hope you enjoyed this post! If anyone would like to do this, feel free! I'd love to see your answers! <3

Picking Up the Pieces of My Childhood [10-01-2012]

Believe it or not, when I was little, I was a tomboy. I never liked Barbie and I always wanted to play with things like Transformers and Power Rangers. But there were always a few toys that caught my eye. Things like magical girls that had the power of colors or ponies that could talk and save the world.I actually collected some of the dolls (wish I still had them too). Some of the dolls like The Fairies of Cottingley Glen (pictured above) were some of my favorites.  I'm really happy I can collect them again and actually hold onto them this time! What are your favorite toys growing up?
