Sweet Sunday: Alex London Designs [ 09-02-2012 ]

Tantalum Magazine

Good Morning, Bunnies! Hope you're having a great long weekend! I am so glad the work week is over. Now I can concentrate on more important things. Heee~

My treat to you all today is a designer! Meet ♥ Alex London ♥. She is based outside of New York City where she makes elegant style clothes with a lot of gorgeous fabric, lace and anything else she might have in her arsenal. Her work has appeared in music videos, magazines and other publications. I haven't met her personally but I learned of her through one of my very good friends. And I am very excited writing this post about her.

Having started her schooling with pre-college courses at FIT and continued on at Parson The New School for Design, Alex has a lot of skill under her belt. Her use of style and judgment of how fabric flows really works well with her pieces. I believe one of her icons is the great Alexander McQueen. It definitely shows in where she gets her inspiration from.

Marie Antoinette

I'm a big fan of clothing similar to the Elizabethan and fantasy styles, so I really appreciate her work. All of the pieces I've seen on her sites all have working logic to them but still look elegant. Most of the time when I see clothing made by designers, they look nice but aren't always practical. There would always be parts to the piece where it's just there for aesthetics. For Alex London Designs, everything is together.

I can actually imagine people dressing up in her designs and going to dinners, parties and shows. They're not only things that can be worn by famous people on the Red Carpet. These are beautiful clothes for people like you and me. That's the feeling I get and it's a very nice feeling.

Most of her collections, from what I've noticed, don't rely on patterns alone. Fabric and detail work together to become a wearable piece of art. It's like the art comes to life even before it's finished. Her vision is a world I would love to be in. And speaking of art, the photography of her work is amazing too. It's like looking into a fashion show every time I go to her websites.

And speaking of websites, you can see photos of her collections and more on her main website, Tumblr and Facebook! Please be sure to check out her work. And who knows, maybe you'll love it as much as I do!

She is definitely one with big dreams. And I really hope she makes those dreams come true. I read one of those dreams is to become a part of Fashion Week for a second time! But sometimes dreams need a little help to make them happen. Please show your support to help her on her way back to Fashion Week by going here: http://www.indiegogo.com/alexlondon

Keep going with your dreams, Alex and best of luck!

Until Next Time~

Free Talk Fridays/Sweet Sunday Mix-up! 1 - 15 - 2012

I really have to stop doing thisI got really tired from the big work week, getting products done for the upcoming weeks and things like that, that I don't get to post on Fridays like I'm supposed to. :( I will try harder this coming week! I promise!

Anyhoo, as promised, I will be talking about a skirt I got and the inspiration it brought me.

I know this post is running a little late in both when I was supposed to post and that it's late in the evening but I figured since it did spark inspiration and I am off tomorrow, I say why not! :3

Here is the box as I received it. (Minus the stickers of course xD )

Now let's take a peek inside...

It's always so exciting when I order from Sweet Suzette Her packages always arrive very safely and it's always a pleasure ordering from her :3 I can't wait for the new hat I ordered! ^o^ (Of course I will have to make that one of my posts as soon as I get it!)

As you can see in the following pictures, it's an Alice in Wonderland theme! It's a very sweet striped skirt in reds and pinks with white trimmings and lace. The print itself has very beautiful images of Alice, the White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, the deck of cards and the caterpillar on the mushroom! There is also a detachable waist bow held by cute little red heart buttons. All brought together with a very lovely and intricate lace trim at the bottom. It also has some elasticity in the waist band for any Loli that might be bigger (like me xD ) So please take a look at the pictures :3 (You can click on them to see at a bigger size!)

I must say I am very happy with it. And it's my first Loli piece in clothing! So that definitely adds to my excitement.  Thankies so much, Suzette! And I'm very excited and anticipating for the hat I ordered! I can't wait!

Oh and remember when I said this was inspiration to me? Well, seeing as how I am buying more and more things from fellow bloggers, I have already begun to make some hair accessories! I will make sure to put in a few sneak peek pics. But I don't want to give my ideas away until the store is open! So please wait for that! :3

Also, my birthday was a couple of weeks ago! Thought I might end this post with a picture of one of the cakes I got xD Isn't it gorgeous? :3 It's so yummy too! Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream with Devil's Food cake. Yum Yum

Free Talk Fridays/Sweet Sunday Mix-up!

Hi all! Thought I should combine the two since I wasn't able to post this past Friday.

But moving forward, I got my new phone today! It's a HTC Sense. I think that's the actual name.

It's pretty cool! It can allow me to check my blog, my Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook. :3 I also took a trip to JoAnn's today! It's like Michaels only it has a lot more stuff! I got lots of fabric, yarn and a whole bunch of other goodies so I can start making my hair accessories! And that means....

I can start selling stuff in my store!

I've been looking through a lot of online shops, for example, the ones on Etsy and the like and also found that a lot more of the bloggers I follow are opening up more great shops too! So, taking the online tutorials that I saved and the inspiration that I get from these awesome stores, blogs and pictures I check out, I am already starting to make cute Fairy Kei fuzzy clips and hopefully start to make cute bows! Though I forgot to get the alligator clips. But I can always order that through the online store! So hopefully you will see my shop go live soon!

Wish me luck everyone!

Sweet Sundays!

Today's Sweet Sunday post is going to be about many people. A whole lot of people. Who you may ask?

Why, all of you bloggers of course :3

I started this blog in 2011 and began to follow a ton of other bloggers. I read every post when I can and it's always so inspiring for myself so that I can create graphics or make my own blog posts and perhaps to even do events and dress a certain way i.e. Loli.

And now with the new year beginning, I feel I can do a lot more with myself. I can wear more things I never thought I would be wearing. Like Victorian, Loli, Steampunk or anything! I have a new job so I can try to travel a lot more. I will have my store opening up sometime this year too!

And none of this would have been possible, had I not decided to start blogging and following you guys. Thank you so much. I truly appreciate you all for lending me your inspiration and helping me become the person I want to be.

Sweet Sundays! ~ Merry Christmas Edition! ;)

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Hanukkah, Joyous Kwanzaa, Happy Yule and Happy everything everyone celebrates! =) I hope you all enjoyed your holidays surrounded by warmth, family, loved ones and friends and share nothing but happy memories!

I know this was definitely a Christmas I will never forget...

A few posts ago, I lost my first rabbit after finding out his back was broken and had to be put down. A lot of people helped me and supported me in my time of need. So while it was taking a long time to get back on my feet, as it always does when it comes to events like this (not even after how many times I've been through it >.< ). I didn't think I was going to have that great of a Christmas. No one was really coming to our family dinner and I only planned on giving presents, I was not really caring about getting any back. I was the same way even at work. Terrible I know T^T

And let's not forget to mention that everyone kept going out without me. So I was stuck in the house most of the time. I was so upset and annoyed that things were going on without me and I just didn't want to deal with it. Till I found out why...

As it turns out, people noticed my sadness a lot more than I knew. And so, my family began to form a plan behind my back that proved to give me the best Christmas ever. This morning I woke up at 7.30 am, dragged to the kitchen and was presented with a rather large square-shaped thing on the table. I was weird-ed out at first. I lifted up the cover, in case it was a practical joke...and lo and behold....two tiny baby bunnies were in the cage. A small dark gray one and a slightly bigger white one. Both of the Dwarf breed. I broke into tears and hugged my family. They were all in on it and definitely surprised me. It really was the best Christmas ever

We have to wait till we take them to the vet to see what they are (as you can't tell the gender of baby bunnies until they hit puberty) before we can name them. =)

I also got a BabyCakes Cupcake maker which allowed me to make these beauties

My grandfather also gave me my most favorite brand of perfume, Estee Lauder - Pleasures.  And to top it all off, I was also given by my mother and sister a very funny pink shirt of two pandas. It reads "If you're happy and you know it - slap your friend" xD I love it all!

Today, Christmas, makes me think of the past years with my family. There are times when everyone is content and there are times where you just can't stand to be near your family. But they are your family no matter what. They annoy you or you annoy them to the point where you just want to leave. But it's times like these that make you greatly appreciate them, quirks and all. My family inspires me that no matter what, things happen for a reason and that there is always a silver lining, even in the darkest of times. Because if you have that love and support, not a single obstacle can stand in your way.

So I would like to thank my family, friends, loved ones and of course, my boyfriend for always being there for me. For being my inspiration. For being my reason to keep going. I love you all. And a special thank you to my dear readers and friends I met through blogging. I came to learn a great deal of new things I never knew before and heard such wonderful and inspirational words from many of you.

Thank you all for being my inspiration. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone! Much love, peace and good luck with tons of best wishes! =)
