When You Gotta Make Food...

Hello Hello, Lil Buns!

It was another blah day today. I've been trying to visit Flushing all week but the weather has been so crummy. Today, I could only go to the nearby supermarket for some quick items. Some of them for a recipe I wanted to try.

I'm sure you guys all probably know by now I own 3 bunnies! And supplies aren't cheap. Especially when they're all female and don't want to get along with each other. So that's 3 sets of everything.

Even their favorite treats are between 3$ and 5$! So that adds up...

I searched online and found this awesome recipe on the House Rabbit Society website!

You'll need:
1 small carrot, pureed
1/2 banana, mashed until really creamy
1 tbsp honey
1/4 cup rabbit pellets, ground finely in a coffee grinder
1/4 cup ground oats, ground finely in a coffee grinder

Mix pureed carrot, banana and honey in a medium bowl. Add pellet powder and ground oats. Mix until blended. Knead in your hands for 1-2 minutes. Roll out the "dough" in 1/8- to 1/4-inch thick layers between sheets of plastic wrap. Cut into small cookies (about 3/4 inch across). Place cut shapes onto a parchment paper covered cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degrees for about 30 minutes (check to make sure they are not browning too much). Turn off the heat and let the cookies sit in the warm oven for an hour or so.

And here's how mine turned out! I had a little trouble with the carrot puree because I've never done it before but it still made a decent "dough". It even looks like the treats I would buy for them. This should save me some money. And the buns loved it!

And speaking of bunnies, did you know that it's My Melody's birthday today?!

For dinner, I made some fried tofu. For some reason, I was craving it. Last time I tried to make it, it didn't work out too well. But it cooked perfectly this time! What do you think?

Tomorrow, I hope the weather will be better and I can finally go to Flushing. I'll probably blog about that tomorrow!

That's all for now! See you next time!

Say "I Love You" with Yum! [02-11-15]

Hiyo, Bunnies!

Valentine's Day is almost here! And who says you need a boyfriend or girlfriend to celebrate? You can celebrate any kind of love with this day whether it's with a sibling or your best friend! Here are some of my favorite kawaii ways of celebrating this special Day of Love~ (*’∀’人)♥

Conversation Heart Sugar Cookies

I've seen a bunch of different recipes that always involved royal icing. But what if you didn't want to use icing or don't have the skill to work with it? Here is a great recipe that allows you to make yummy sugar cookies without the extra step of making icing. (Plus you can use a really cute and fun cookie cutter!)

Rainbow Heart Cookies

Saw this on my feed the other day and I had to share it! Now I know there are a lot more steps with making these cookies but they just come out so cute and look so yummy. How could you not want to try to make these at least once?!

Red Velvet Milkshakes

Red velvet and ice cream. What more could you possibly need? Milkshakes are great for any time and these cute ones would be a perfect treat!

Rice Krispie Kisses

These are not your typical Kisses in both size and flavor. They're bigger and made with Rice Krispies! Yummy~

It's funny how food is always the best way to celebrate any holiday and occasion. Hope you enjoy the wonderful recipes I've found and let me know if you try them!

Did you also know that Rainbow Star Candy is holding a new ♥ Giveaway ♥?! Visit the ♥ Facebook Page ♥ and check it out! You might be the lucky one~!

See you soon!

Early Halloween Planning! [ 09-08-2012]

Image from Tumblr

I know it's a little early but yesterday I found out at work that the office holds Halloween events and contests! We can dress up in costume and also participate in a contest on baking and decorating what we make in the Halloween theme. Since this is the only time really that I can get away with what I really want to wear (aka Lolita and other fashions of the like - just bummed I can't wear stuff like that everyday or work in a place surrounded by it) I'm going to take full advantage! This year I think I'll do Fairy Kei/80s look and make a super duper adorable cake or cupcake. I'll take pics of what I do! This will be exciting!
